Many people have asked me why I would give up a career in the legal industry to become an educator. The answer is complex and personal but can be summed up in four words: we can do better. We can create environments based on mutual respect and a quest for knowledge.  We can guide behavior—not issue punishment. We can normalize mistakes—not shame them. We can build positive rapports—not alienate. We can learn through relevant experiences—not rote memorization. We can provide learning materials for all ability levels—not just one-size-fits-all.
